reassign 402400 mirrors

Did you see such an error recently ?

Yes, although not as often as the GPG errors which I have seen every day this
week.

The GPG problem, at least, is not with the mirrors.

The problem is that ISP's 'transparent' caches get out of sync and that the wget/dpkg/apt chain fails to use the 'no-cache' http option to force the cache to get an updated version of the index files on an error.

When the GPG errors occur I find the cache is presenting Release and Release.gpg files which do not match.

I can solve the problem by manually browsing the repository and reloading the relevant files

    http://security.debian.org/dists/etch/updates/Release
    http://security.debian.org/dists/etch/updates/Release.gpg

while holding down the shift button in Firefox/iceweasel.

I believe the MD5SUM errors are a downstream effect of the same problem.

It would probably be more sensible to reassign this to dpkg than it is to assign it to mirrors.
