Sorry for being a bit unclear. The binary package is gnucash-common, built from the source package gnucash. You are listed as the maintainer of the package on http://packages.debian.org/unstable/gnome/gnucash-common The file in question is /usr/share/gnome/apps/Applications/gnucash.desktop It should be placed in /usr/share/applications. I have verified this against Debian Sid, using packages.debian.org, as well.
