looking for X11/extensions/xf86vmode.h gives xlibs-static-dev which is
plain wrong. the file is in libxxf86vm-dev.
In sarge, xf86vmode.h is located in xlibs-static-dev. Maybe the contents
file is broken.
You may check it with:
zgrep -F xf86vmode.h /var/cache/apt/*Contents*.gz
did you ever read my answer? the location of the header file is wrong and
has been for several weeks. i don't know to whom this bug belongs -- but
it is a bug and it should definitively be fixed!
if you think it's not a apt-file bug please assign to the right one but do
not close it without a convincing explanation. several people compiling
the ati-drivers with unstable were embarrased by this bug -- so simply
closing it is in no way satisfying.
