I've forwarded the problem to upstream. Without the keyring switches it does not fail. IMHO the result should be the same for both scenarios. BTW: --verify is a command, whereas the --*keyring* switches are options. Please consider the correct ordering (options before command), see gpg(1). PS: You better use gpgv for this action.
