That's indeed one of those I already tried: it doesn't crash for me.
If you enable verbose debug in gnome-mplayer (right click on player ->
Preferences -> Interface -> Verbose Debug Enabled) perhaps you will see
the reason for the crash (either on tty1 or ~/.xsession-error if you are
on Gnome).

I truly believe this is a problem with your system, possibly related
to some of the plugins you use (and manually copying files around is
really a way to ask for troubles). I'm asking anyhow to upstream just
to be sure.

I really wouldn't know how to help with that. I can only suggest to
search into forums/help sites for corruption problems related to
mozilla crashes and eventually raise an iceweasel bug in Debian.
