Package: pidgin-otr Version: 3.2.0-5 Severity: wishlist While in private/unverified mode, if a new unencrypted message is received, then the following message appears:
The following message received from $USERNAME was not encrypted: [$MESSAGE] It is good that OTR is very explicit and clear that the message is not encrypted. The problem is that Pidgin does not consider that a new message, instead it treats it like a status change (ex. user signed on), so no notification of the message is ever generated past the user's tab turning grey. This is an especially large problem if the user has switched to a computer which does not support OTR so they cannot attempt to start a new encrypted conversation which would generate new message notifications. Every new message, even unencrypted ones, should trigger Pidgin's message notification mechanisms. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.31.6 (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages pidgin-otr depends on: ii libc6 2.10.2-2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcrypt11 1.4.5-1 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libotr2 3.2.0-2 Off-the-Record Messaging library ii pidgin 2.6.4-1 graphical multi-protocol instant m pidgin-otr recommends no packages. pidgin-otr suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
