xvii:~> Xdialog --msgbox test 5 50 Gtk-WARNING (recursed) **: Failed to load module "libcanberra-gtk-module.so": libcanberra-gtk-module.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory because the GTK_MODULES environment variable is set to "canberra-gtk-module" (the warning disappears if I unset the variable). Note that even though there's a workaround, interfering with other software is a very bad thing, as this makes problems very difficult to track. The warning was particularly annoying as I was receiving spurious mail containing this warning, and it took me some time to find out that these messages came from "at" jobs executing Xdialog.
