(Broadcom Network Card firmware) I selected no and continued on the install. (Strange, did it get the firmware from somewhere else, or was there an open source alternative, or another driver?) It does not indicate that there is a problem, or that the netinst will or will not work without the firmware. Perhaps a better message saying what requires the firmware, ex. Tigon/tg3_tso.bin firmware is required by the Ethernet card to function properly, whether or not there is an open source option, and the ability to use it, and whether or not the device will work would be better. Overall the message is very, vague to an end user, a little clarification would be good. Also, having the firmware repository on the netinst cd would be good, and an option to load from there. Not being able to use the on-board network interface for a net install is not a good point. -- Chris Brandstetter -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.1 GCS/IT d+(-) s++:++ a C++++$ UBLISXC*++++$ P++++$ L+++$ E-- W+++ N+ o K- w-- O M++$ V PS- PE Y+ PGP++ t++ 5+++ X+ R- tv-- b+>+++ DI D+ G+ e+ h++ r y? ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ To Decode: http://www.ebb.org/ungeek/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
