Ok, I am getting a better understanding of the workflow and intentions of your
packaging.

I set tomorrow aside to work on browse. I thing the issues I need to learn are:
1. How the xulrunner package works.
2. Where browse will fit into the universe of activities.
3. How to start a browse-0.88 git branch and submit a patch/request a pull.

Browse is already being worked on (most recent upload was just rejected and I didn't take time to dig into fixing the reasons for that yet) and also isn't the simplest one to manage.

I suggest taking the challenge of a pure-Python package first. There's plenty of trickynes in "simple" packaging, like juggling with multiple branches (or elegantly avoiding to do so, if you pick an activity suporting all branches in a same releases).
