Package: emacs21-common Version: 21.4a-1 Severity: normal The emacs21-common package includes the etags manual page in /usr/share/man/man1/etags.1emacs21.gz. This causes "man etags" to display the emacs version, in spite of the etags manual page at /usr/share/man/man1/etags.1.gz which is managed by the Debian alternatives system and my current preference for the exuberant version of etags to be used.
I suggest /usr/share/man/man1/etags.1emacs21.gz be renamed to /usr/share/man/man1/etags-emacs21.1.gz and the etags alternatives slave be updated accordingly. $ man -w etags /usr/share/man/man1/etags.1emacs21.gz $ /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --display etags etags - status is auto. link currently points to /usr/bin/ctags-exuberant /usr/bin/ctags-exuberant - priority 30 slave etags.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/ctags-exuberant.1.gz /usr/bin/etags.emacs21 - priority 24 slave etags.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/etags.1emacs21.gz Current `best' version is /usr/bin/ctags-exuberant. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.7eagle-20040916 Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages emacs21-common depends on: ii dpkg 1.10.28 Package maintenance system for Deb ii emacsen-common 1.4.16 Common facilities for all emacsen emacs21-common recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
