this is a bit hard to "debug" because it only happens during boot and probably the first time I try a /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.0 stop /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.0 start While starting init level 2 postgresql reports "failed" when trying to start the "main" instance. But the I can connect to the server later on. The instance is fresh from the installation, I did not do anything with it. The same happens when I do a manual restart (as mentioned above) but only for the first attempt. The 2nd manual restart gives an "ok".
