Package: screen Version: 4.0.3-14 Severity: wishlist Hello,
Very seldom, one is obliged to create a new window using screen. Well, it is the principle of screen, to have some tabs of windows in the statusbar as below: OK, so the very useful add-on would consist as follows: " to duplicate the current window, and add a similar one which would be inserted in the tab windows (numbers)" This is a bit like galeon, when you press CTRL and open a new url, it opens a new tab adjacent. Here it would be with screen. This feature would have also the power to let you remain as root. For instance, screen 0 : ssh to distant -l username ok you get hte login then you type sudo su you get the root and you do : c-a DUplicate-key somehting, and you get a second tab window with this root on the distant server this would let you do 2 root on the distant server command lines If you would like a third command running, ... e.g. burning a cdrom entered as root, ... just do : c-a DUplicate-key this would avoid to type all the time the password since we typed it already. This feature for screen would be very very useful, and you may find a new key for this DUPLICATING of WINDOWS COMMMAND LINE I hope that this feature could be implemented. Thank you very much. I use screen 95% of the time, and for server : nothing better. Best regards and all my best wishes 2010, it is already many many years that screen exists. : congratulations !! its cool Y. cat .screenrc hardstatus alwayslastline "%c %w" # Don't display the copyright page startup_message off # tab-completion flash in heading bar vbell off # keep scrollback n lines defscrollback 1000 #For windows, F11 and F12 (NOT F1 and F2) to previous and next screen window can go to next prev window bindkey -k F1 prev bindkey -k F2 next bindkey ^[[1;5A prev bindkey ^[[1;5B next bindkey ^[[1;5D prev bindkey ^[[1;5C next bindkey ^N screen bindkey ^[[1;2D prev bindkey ^[[1;2C next -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages screen depends on: ii dpkg 1.15.5.3 Debian package management system ii install-info 4.13a.dfsg.1-5 Manage installed documentation in ii libc6 2.10.2-2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libncursesw5 5.7+20090803-2 shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpam0g 1.1.0-4 Pluggable Authentication Modules l screen recommends no packages. screen suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
