Package: screen
Version: 4.0.3-14
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

Very seldom, one is obliged to create a new window using screen. Well, it is
the principle of screen, to have some tabs of windows in the statusbar as below:

OK, so the very useful add-on would consist as follows:
" to duplicate the current window, and add a similar one which would be
inserted in the tab windows (numbers)"

This is a bit like galeon, when you press CTRL and open a new url, it opens a
new tab adjacent.
Here it would be with screen.

This feature would have also the power to let you remain as root.
For instance, screen 0 : ssh to distant -l username
ok you get hte login
then you type sudo su
you get the root
and you do : c-a DUplicate-key somehting, and you get a second tab window with
this root on the distant server
this would let you do 2 root on the distant server command lines

If you would like a third command running, ... e.g. burning a cdrom entered as
root, ... just do : c-a DUplicate-key
this would avoid to type all the time the password since we typed it already.

This feature for screen would be very very useful, and you may find a new key
for this DUPLICATING of WINDOWS COMMMAND LINE

I hope that this feature could be implemented.

Thank you very much. I use screen 95% of the time, and for server : nothing
better.

Best regards and all my best wishes
2010, it is already many many years that screen exists. : congratulations !!
its cool

Y.
