According to Aurelien Jarno, #470500 is a linuxthreads vs nptl bug.
We probably hit it again in the postinst scripts of aiccu which call
dig or host in postinst if installed. (Cc to Reinier Haasjes, the new
aiccu maintainer to know that in case a bug report comes in for aiccu.)
Even on invocation with (practically) only a hostname causes dig and
host to hang on kfreebsd:
$ dig snitch.ethz.ch +short
192.33.96.77
^C
$ host snitch.ethz.ch
snitch.ethz.ch has address 192.33.96.77
^C
