I can give some more detail on this bug.  It's not only
maps.google.com.au that fails but www.google.com itself.  Typing a
couple of words in the search box and pressing enter or clicking "Google
Search" changes the address in the address bar but does not load the
page.  Clicking in the address bar and pressing enter loads the search
results page.  Again, Webkit's GtkLauncher works fine.
