OK.  Thanks for checking this and ruling it out.

Shouldn't have any effect on functionality of software.
The screen may be small.  Did you try simply zooming up the
image to see whether the arrow is simply too small to see?

OK.  The only other difference I can spot between your setup and mine is
the locale.  As I say, I did try using

   LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8

and still the arrowheads worked.  I can't imagine why this would make
any difference, but can you check whether your colleagues are using
the same locale?
