More accurately the package is now being team-maintained - I am part of it but won't take all credit :-)
Nevertheless our work on releasing newer Sympa has been very slow, so thanks for challenging us with this bugreport!
I have now looked at it again, and even if there are many more TODOs in our current packaging work, I feel that it is still of much better quality than the very outdated version released with Lenny.
If therefore intend to release what we have prepared so far (including an update to 6.0.1 that I made last night), later today.
