I've had a similar problem with ppp 2.4.5 (from Opensuse 11.2). When
connecting with Huawei E220 to Tele2, pppd did not assign nameservers at
all in about 4 from 5 cases (strange, maybe it ignores the bogus answer
now but does not set the correct value). Setting ipcp-max-failure option
to 30 solves the problem. The problem actually appeared either after the
upgrade to this ppp version or something was changed at Tele2, it used
to work fine before.
