update-pciids is a /bin/sh script, which can mean dash. It sets a
variable GZIP. Now dash exports variables even when it is not asked to
do so, and g(un)zip considers the content of the variable GZIP as a
command line argument. Since GZIP is not used, I would be in favor of
simply removing the line that defines it.
