I'm not sure if it's an openbox problem to be honest, but let's see 
what strace tells. Cause the openbox message basically tells you that there is 
already a window manager running. Can you check your process list please?

You can strace an already running process by specifying -p <pid> to strace.

To me this implies that almost every user who install that is affected by this 
and this should rather surprise you imho. But anyway, it's no big deal.
