Package: wicd
Version: 1.7.0-2
Severity: normal

I have a very similar problem with an unprotected AP with hidden ESSID.
But the actual appearance is a bit different:

- start wicd-client
- scanning, the hidden network is not shown
- clicking "find hidden Network", enter the ESSID
-> the association actually takes place (iwconfig wlan0
shows all the necessary stuff, and syslog shows:
                wlan0: authenticated, ... wlan0: associated)
-> wicd does not realize that, shows "no networks available"
- pressing "Refresh"
-> wicd lists many networks around here, but not the hidden one,
although wlan0 is already associated (iwconfig wlan0)
(sometimes:
  - after some time: "wlan0: deauthenticated ...Reason: 1) (whatever that
    reason is)
)
- press "Refresh" again, sometimes 3-5 times necessary
-> although permanently associated, it takes several iterations
to be found and shown in the wicd network list
- finally it shows up, but although "AUtomatically connect" is selected
  no connection is set up
- click on "Connect" and it works (usually, not always)

This is with intel 5100AGN hardware, and iwlagn 1.3.27ks driver from
kernel 2.6.32.3 or 2.6.33-rc..

It would be nice if that can be made more streamlined.

Thanks
