Dear Thomas,

I'm not really sure what's the intended role of debian-sys-maint.
maybe you're right;
Alternatively the administrator could be asked for a new mysql user to
be created, only with the permissions needed to backup the system
(iirc debian-sys-maint has also write permissions on the dbs)

If you think it's a bug related to the mysql-server package I'll report it
