The version in lenny should rescan the interfaces every 5 minutes, and it works in my case. But there are cases it doesn't work properly, like when using mdns that returns it can't find the host when the network is not up yet. There are also other open bug reports for which I don't have enough information to know what the problem really is. Upstream is still working on things, and they just added a new async resolver so that it can also update the IPs after it has been running for a while. I don't expect that version to be release soon.
