The problem occurs in gimp-2.7, and not in gimp-2.6.
The only messages I get in the terminal window are the following:

(gimp-2.7:20355): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "-2147483648" of type `gint'
is invalid or out of range for property `cache-size' of type `gint'
Removing the ~/.gimp-2.7/ directory does not change anything, and I
don't have any ~/.gtkam/ directory.
