Hi,
| I'm open to doing this, could you please provide a sample output that
| would be more machine readable?
I'll just invent something here, with this as the basis:
Found 13 processes using old versions of upgraded files
(5 distinct programs)
(5 distinct packages)
Of these, 2 seem to contain init scripts which can be used to restart them:
The following packages seem to have init scripts that could be used
to restart them:
dbus:
29231 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon
27464 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon
screen:
2039 /usr/bin/screen
These are the init scripts:
/etc/init.d/dbus restart
/etc/init.d/screen-cleanup restart
These processes do not seem to have an associated init script to restart them:
python2.5-minimal:
9938 /usr/bin/python2.5
9856 /usr/bin/python2.5
28062 /usr/bin/python2.5
9815 /usr/bin/python2.5
9897 /usr/bin/python2.5
xvfb:
9796 /usr/bin/Xvfb
bash:
2040 /bin/bash
32729 /bin/bash
9428 /bin/bash
13261 /bin/bash
becomes:
PROCESSES:13
PROGRAMS:5
PACKAGES:5
INIT:dbus,29231,/usr/bin/dbus-daemon,/etc/init.d/dbus
INIT:dbus,27464,/usr/bin/dbus-daemon,/etc/init.d/dbus

If you have criticisms, I am in no way bound to this format; I just made
it up.
Cheers,
