Package: python-mako Version: 0.2.5-2 Severity: important So, I install a package that needs mako. This is a 1MB dependency. Now python-mako recommends python-beaker, which recommends python-sqlalchemy. And suddenly this makes a 4MB dependency.
Please drop Recommends and make them Suggests. Python modules are not programs, they are like libraries. You shouldn’t end up with 10 modules when your program only needs one. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages python-mako depends on: ii python 2.5.4-9 An interactive high-level object-o ii python-support 1.0.6 automated rebuilding support for P Versions of packages python-mako recommends: pn python-beaker <none> (no description available) python-mako suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- .''`.
