Package: python-mako
Version: 0.2.5-2
Severity: important

So, I install a package that needs mako. This is a 1MB dependency. Now
python-mako recommends python-beaker, which recommends
python-sqlalchemy. And suddenly this makes a 4MB dependency.

Please drop Recommends and make them Suggests. Python modules are not
programs, they are like libraries. You shouldn’t end up with 10 modules
when your program only needs one.
