Binaries go to testing-proposed-updates in Debian for a while before they land in -updates. Similarly, in Ubuntu the updates stay in -proposed for a while, where they get tested, before they move to -updates. Feedback, in particular about regressions, is highly appreciated for those. Upstreams' QA is generally pretty good, and we have a range of automatic test cases as well, but unfortunately these do not cover every corner case.
