yes 'modprobe capability' fixes the problem.
I guess that is a little inconsistent between different kernels if one
has the functionality built in and another has it as a module. Maybe a
slight change in the error message of ethereal would help, or since
ethereal has root privileges could it just directly run system("modprobe
capability");.
