This fetches the translations over the net where they may be no longer
available and, moreover, immediately deletes a .po file after running
msgfmt on it.  Well, at least the offending line can be commented out
easily.

This does not give you back the source but rather some pre-processed
file where all comments, untranslated and fuzzy strings are missing.

I cannot find any po files there.  But apparently it is possible to
anonymously destroy^W update translations by putting junk^W strings into
the text boxes that you retrieve when you select a language.

Quality control, anyone?  Oh wait, in Debian we have such a system as
well, it is called DDTS and gives people a lot of grief[1].

At least not in the Debian package, which is what this bug is about.
The severity should be changed back to serious.

And please try to convince upstream to switch some sane method for
maintaining the translations.  For German they have both de.po _and_
de_DE.po with entirely different contents…
