Sorry for misunderstanding your question.

I've booted the machine without a media in the drive.
Then I've rebooted with a media in the drive.

I've exactly the same behaviour, described before.

If I mount the media in the drive, I have also the same behaviour.


Please also report the content of /proc/ide/hda/media just after a
reboot.

After a reboot with or without a media in the drive:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] % cat /proc/ide/hda/media
cdrom
[EMAIL PROTECTED] % ls -l /dev/hda
brw-rw----  1 root floppy 3, 0 2005-08-04 21:09 /dev/hda
