There is no such intent. Upstream discourages providing mount.cifs
setuid. So, the decision is up to the maintainer *and* we do not
really intend do show some incitation to do this by documenting the
use of dpkg-statoverride.
/Indeed, the replacement package usmb is not /in Debian so currently
this functionality is not available without additional hacking.

I guess I can manually set the binary suid root in my debian-live images until
a fix is available.
