Package: rinse Version: 1.7-1 Severity: normal rinse fails to install Fedora 8, 9, and 10 due to the package lists known to rinse via /etc/rinse/rinse.conf moved to the Fedora archives. See e.g. http://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/fedora/linux/releases/9/README
Additionally it doesn't support Fedora 11 and 12 yet, which are the only two versions currently supported by Fedora. So currently rinse can't install any Fedora versions out of the box. The modified entries in my /etc/rinse/rinse.conf for the elder, no more officially supported Fedora releases look like this: [fedora-core-7] mirror = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/i386/os/Fedora/ mirror.amd64 = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/x86_64/os/Fedora/ [fedora-core-8] mirror = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/i386/os/Packages/ mirror.amd64 = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/x86_64/os/Packages/ [fedora-core-9] mirror = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/9/Fedora/i386/os/Packages/ mirror.amd64 = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/9/Fedora/x86_64/os/Packages/ [fedora-core-10] mirror = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/10/Fedora/i386/os/Packages/ mirror.amd64 = http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/10/Fedora/x86_64/os/Packages/ With those settings I was able to at least install Fedora 10 via xen-create-image with install-method=rinse after a few tries (due to download server timeouts). But passwd failed in the chroot: passwd: error while loading shared libraries: libuser.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory BTW: Fedora is named only "Fedora" since "Fedora 7". "Fedora Core 6" isn't even in the archives anymore, so I would suggest to rename the at least the files for version 7 and above to just "fedora" instead of "fedora-core". -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (600, 'testing'), (500, 'oldstable'), (400, 'stable'), (110, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages rinse depends on: ii libterm-size-perl 0.2-4+b1 Perl extension for retrieving term ii libwww-perl 5.834-1 Perl HTTP/WWW client/server librar ii perl-modules 5.10.1-11 Core Perl modules ii rpm 4.7.2-1+b2 package manager for RPM ii wget 1.12-1.1 retrieves files from the web rinse recommends no packages. rinse suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
