I discovered this when starting boot scripts with full concurrency and
/var/run as a tmpfs using Debian Edu The courier-ldap script failed to
start the daemon, because /var/run/courier/ did not exist when the

Please change the init.d script to create /var/run/courier/ before

Also, the courier-ldap script starts before slapd on a machine with a
local LDAP server. Should it start after the LDAP server is
operational? If so, the init.d script dependency need to be changed
to reflect this.
