Unfortunately wlan0 still is not active and /proc/net/dev shows the same output as I have sent before: only 0's at all fields. The file /proc/net/dev does not show any activity of wlan0 and eth0 device, even after invoking "ifconfig wlan0 up". Then, only the WIFI led turns on, further nothing. Maybe the problem might be traced down by the last line of the dmesg I already sent you before: [ 90.241294] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready Quite cumbersome this system does not connect to the internet from the Debian-Live OS (self build with DH scripts). This keeps me from installing Debian on this computer. So each time I have to read/send mails I will have to reboot into Ubuntu using kernel 2.6.31. (Not a pun intended :) Thanks very much for your assistance. I appreciate this very much.
