Thanks to bersyl91's patch, we have fixed this issue in Ubuntu.

In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:
* debian/postinst:
- Added fix to postinst failing when /var/run/sympa does not exist.
We thought you might be interested in doing the same.
