I am sad to learn through this bug report that notmuch do not handle emails stored in the mbox format. Most of my email is stored away like that, and with 14 GB of email stored on the server as maildir, mbox and gzipped mbox files, I can not afford (because of disk storage costs) to unpack the mbox files to maildir format.
