Please try to use the FreeBSD variant and guard it with

#defined (__FreeBSD__) || defined (__FreeBSD_kernel__)

I can try to use it, but I have no FreeBSD system I can use to test the
FreeBSD code path. So basically I'd be coding blindly, checking in code
that looks ok and compiles, but that is untested.

It would all work much better if a person with FreeBSD could submit a
patch. #504842 has all the information needed on where to find the
relevant code, so it shouldn't be a hard task.

The problem is that Debian have at about 8700 source packages which
provide architecture specific binary packages and additional 3500 source packages which provide only arch all packages.
A few thousand times small work is too much.

For some recent problems see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=kfreebsd;users=debian-...@lists.debian.org

We do not have enouch man-power for every leaf package, sorry.
On the other hand, I will be glad to test preliminary version.

Cheers

        Petr
