Package: xaw3dg Version: 1.5+E-8.1 Severity: normal X.org, which should arrive in etch soon, provides libxaw8 as well as libxaw7. I would like to keep the development headers for libxaw8 installed, and still build packages which depend on Xaw3d.
A quick test build on my machine verifies that, simply changing debian/control, xaw3dg-dev can build properly on a system with X.org and libxaw8, and depend on libxaw8-dev as another option to libxaw[67]-dev. This allows e.g. xcolorsel to be built on current sid without downgrading vanilla Xaw. Since sarge is released, and X.org will be in etch, I would also propose modernizing the rest of Xaw3d's dependencies by dropping XFree86's xlibs-dev in favor of the modularized X.org equivalents. This may also be an opportunity to drop the transitional 'g' suffix and standardize with those libraries (and the rest of Debian) as libxaw3d6 or something along those lines, but that's your call. As I'm already running this test build, I can clean it up into a proper NMU if desired. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.13-rc4 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Versions of packages xaw3dg depends on: ii libc6 2.3.5-3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libice6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libsm6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System Session Management ii libx11-6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxmu6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System miscellaneous util ii libxp6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System printing extension ii libxpm4 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X pixmap library ii libxt6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs 6.8.2.dfsg.1-4 X Window System client libraries m xaw3dg recommends no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
