The upstream bug that I've filed has been updated, saying that fixing 
it (switching to fixed-size fields) would break the backwards 
compatibility, and since there is a replacement (logging via 
nfnetlink_log/ulogd2), it's not going to be fixed and we should just 
use this alternative. I've also recognized that approach with building 
two binaries with -m32 and -m64 and figuring out which one to use at 
runtime is not going to be easy, as on i386, for example, it will 
require 64-bit MySQL/PGSQL/Sqlite libraries which ulogd links against.

I think that at this point the only reasonable way forward is to 
package/upload ulogd2 (someone mentioned that some packaging 
progress has been done already) and completely deprecate ulogd.
