One more thing I noticed ... For a while the ability for dh-make-drupal to identify packages and versions from the website was broken, and I'd assumed that hadn't been fixed so I'd been building modules by manually downloading tarballs and then running dh-make-drupal project -t <...>.tar.gz -V x.y and those packages exhibited the problem described.

I just noticed that the ability to query the website is back, and packages generated via that mechanism are correct, as are packages generated from manual tarballs if I specify -d 6 as arguments.

Given that the supported drupal version is in the .info file I was assuming that it would use that. Perhaps when building from a tarball, the -d option should be mandatory like -V is?
