I have the same behaviour here.
Debian squeeze, offlineimap 6.2.0+nmu2, server Debian lenny, dovecot
1:1.0.15-2.3+lenny1 over SSL.
The error message is:
sslerror: (8, 'EOF occurred in violation of protocol')
And the debug info I get (-d imap -1) is:
