There is already a related bug report in Geany's bug tracker: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=787791&aid=2985896&group_id=153444 And because it's possible related to GTK, I reported this also to GTK's bug tracker: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=615576 My current guess is that it's somehow related to Geany's file open dialog and the directory which was opened in the dialog before closing it.
