I've installed a redmine today (version 0.9.3-3~bpo50+1) and I've got the same issue. It looks like the user is created with redm...@$(hostname -s) on the remote DB server while further it tries to connect with redm...@ip. The issue maybe exists because the reverse of the IP is not configured properly.
