Package: ifupdown Version: 0.6.10 Severity: normal After a recent upgrade (of ‘dibbler-client’) caused ‘resolvconf’ 1.4.5 to be installed, the name resolution on this machine is no longer configured correctly when the machine starts up.
The interface starts and is configured via DHCP, but for some reason ‘/etc/resolv.conf’ has not been updated: ===== # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8) # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN search example.com ===== Name resolution fails while this state remains. If I later manually run: ===== $ sudo ifdown eth0 $ sudo ifup eth0 ===== then the ‘/etc/resolv.conf’ file is updated with the correct settings from DHCP, and name resolution works. The update should happen automatically when the interface is first connfigured via DHCP on starting up. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-3-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_AU.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages ifupdown depends on: ii libc6 2.10.2-6 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii lsb-base 3.2-23.1 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii net-tools 1.60-23 The NET-3 networking toolkit ifupdown recommends no packages.
