I am really interested in the package, even I've been hoping that would be possible to package the Ubuntu version, but theirs, strongly depends on Python2.6.
I have no idea in packaging except for some other Debian packages I rebuilt my self just for adding compilation options to the package. But I never made a package from scratch.
