First you tell me that I should have tagged an invalid bug as fixed in
some version, whilst it's not a bug and therefore it couldn't have been
fixed for which reason it was closed without a tag.
Then you are telling me that the bug is not visible on mc's bug page,
but you might happen to know about archived bugs, right? So what did I
do wrong in your opinion again?
You did nothing wrong. But you shouldn't expect people consider archived
bugs as not applying for them, if they have the unstable version
installed, and you shouldn't expect people digging the archived bugs
either (and yes, google search on the title of my bug only shows this one,
not the others).
Since I never edited the mc bindings file, these "user settings" are in
fact "mc authors' settings". And no matter they're "authors' settings"
from years ago, mc should not choke on them.
So how come this file got in there in the first place?
mc never creates it unless you do this manually or explicitly tell it to
change the bindings in which case it copies the default bindings and
lets you edit them in mcedit.
Could be I clicked the "edit extension file" menu item and then didn't
edit anything.
Still, this particular setting is identical with the upstream one, as a
search through the git repository shows. You can't say it is a "user
setting" and mean it seriously. In an ideal world, the settings that the
user didn't change, and didn't wish to change, would still change
according to the maintainer.
