No: although I can't seem to find a reference for this, clean partial
upgrades from the last stable release must be supported.

If this triggers the bug, starting on a lenny system:

 apt-get install couchdb libjs-jquery
 sed -i s/lenny/squeeze/ /etc/apt/sources.list
 apt-get update
 apt-get install couchdb

then I think this bug should be considered release critical.
