I am sending this text to all affected maintainers today, Don't know how much relevant it is in your case. gettext 0.18-1 in unstable now uses git instead of cvs, so this effectively makes your package to FTBFS in unstable. There is a dummy serious bug against gettext to prevent it from entering testing, so this bug is not serious yet, but I would like to see the new gettext in squeeze sometime soon.
