No, it hides it under the carpet.

If sed crashes, it’s a bug in sed, not in gnome-icon-theme.

Since it doesn’t seem to be trivially reproducible, I’d appreciate if
you could obtain a backtrace of the crashing sed process. See
http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace
