Hi, Rob, I am unarchiving and reopening this bug report because '--no-site-file' is not supported by XEmacs (although it does not complain), so verbosity problem is still present for it. Please use single dash '-no-site-file', which is supported by both XEmacs and (although undocumented) FSF Emacs.
