Hi,
Symlinks in the /etc/sane.d/dll.d/ directory are not followed, it would be
nice to support symlinks for some special configurations done by
administrators.
I'm not sure why you'd want to use symlinks here, given that any file
you'd create in this directory will be left untouched by the package
manager anyway...
Well, I just did... and had to do an strace to find out why the
backend wasn't getting loaded, then copied the file instead of using a
symlink and voila!
Symlinks exist, strange users/sysadmins/situations too :-).
People just expect symlinks to work everywhere... and get surprised
when they don't.
Personally I think the symlinks should be supported on that
directory even if they aren't strictly necessary, because some user
might prefer to do a symlink there to a shared network file or something
else... who knows! :-)
Thanks for your dedication!!!
Goodbye.
